Calcium citrate
- Calcium citrate is better bioavailable, more effective and safer (limited risk of kidney stone formation) as compared to the commonly and widely used Calcium carbonate.
- Various studies have demonstrated that Calcium is 20-27% more absorbed from Calcium citrate, having high bioavailability than Calcium carbonate.
- Citrate is an inhibitor of the crystalization of stone forming calcium salts and long term Calcium citrate supplementation in normal subjects does not increase the propensity of crystalization of calcium salts in urine. Thus Calcium citrate has low potential for forming stone in the urinary tract.
- Calcium citrate has a positive effect on heart health in postmenopausal women. Calcium citrate reduces the rate of cardiovascular related events by 20 to 30%.
- Calcium citrate can be taken with or without food, a benefit for those with low stomach acid.
2. Alfacalcidol
- Long term administration of Alfacalcidol is safe even when combined with Calcium preparations and inhibits parathyroid function leading to bone sparing effect and reduction in the incidence of vertebral fracture
- Alfacalcidol + Calcium is superior to Vitamin D + Calcium in Glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis in the form of significantly increasing BMD at lumbar spine and offering a significant relief from back pain.
- Alfacalcidol helps in absorption of calcium and distribution of calcium in bones
3. Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is known to enhance Collagen synthesis, a precursor of bone matrix mineralisation and hence promotes the bone formation.
4. Available as a chewable tablet with a delicious mixed fruit flavour.
