Indication
Valdecoxib is currently approved in the US for the relief of the signs and symptoms of Osteoarthritis, and adult arthritis and for the treatment of Dysmenorrhoea, Post operative pains and was opioid-sparing following hip arthroplasty, Post Dental extraction pain.
Valdecoxib is well tolerated and in contrast to nonselective NSAID’s is not associated with an increased risk of Gastrointestinal erosion or ulceration or disruption of platelet activity.
Adverse effects :
Anaemia, hypertension, peripheral oedema, dizziness, abdominal pain, headache, nausea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, abdominal fullness, flatulence, diarrhoea, skin rash, sinusitis, URTI, back pain, myalgia
Contraindications : Children, hepatic and / or renal insufficiency, hypersensitivity
